MARGARET “MARNEE” ANN FISHER
It is with saddened hearts that the family of Marnee Fisher announces her passing. Marnee passed away peacefully on Friday, February 8, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, aunt, and loyal friend. Marnee was born September 6, 1942, on a homestead near Lumsden, SK, and her childhood years were spent in Regina. Through a friend she met the love of her life, Maurice. Even though they lived miles apart, their relationship flourished. On July 30, 1960, Maurice and Marnee were married and settled on the Fisher family farm near Crystal Springs, SK. Together they farmed and raised their two children, Terry and Teal. In 1982, Marnee received her broker licence and started her own insurance business, Crystal Agencies. In 1998, after Maurice's passing, she continued her career as an insurance broker for Quayle Agencies in Birch Hills. In 2004, she decided to move to Prince Albert to be closer to her children. While living in Prince Albert, she was employed at Boyd Agencies where she remained until her retirement. Marnee was an extremely kind, giving, and nurturing person. It gave her great pride and fulfillment to help others, never expecting anything in return. She treasured every moment in the great outdoors. She enjoyed the beauty and tranquility of nature. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, camping, fishing, reading, and puzzles. Marnee truly enjoyed family gatherings. She loved getting together with the entire family. They always filled her heart with laughter and joy. But most of all, she loved her grandchildren and they loved her. Grandma never missed any of their activities. She was always there, encouraging them and telling them how proud she was of their accomplishments. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her. “God bless her beautiful soul.” Marnee will be deeply missed by her children: Terry (Randy Van Basten) and Teal (Carol); her grandchildren who loved her dearly Mackenzie, Madison, and Matthew; her brothers Allan (Vivian) Vester, Bobby Vester and Denis Vester; her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Wanda (Ed) Oleniuk, Judy Fisher, Wayne (Lois) Fisher, Linda Welsh; father-in-law Ernest Fisher; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by: her husband Maurice; her mother and step-father Lucy and Tony Hartman; her brothers-in-law Roy Fisher and Terry Welsh; her sister-in-law Nadine Vester; her mother-in-law Margrette Fisher. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 13 from River Park Memorial Chapel. Reverend Duane Mohn will officiate. A private family interment of cremated remains will take place. It is the family’s request that those preferring to place memorials may do so to the Prince Albert SPCA.
