Marie Inez Wilson (Locke)
Passed away at Christopher Lake on January 30, 2013 at the age of 91 years. Marie was born May 8th, 1921 on the family farm near Septre, Sask. The fourth of 5 children of Walter John and Mary Selna (Francis) Locke.
In 1932 the family moved to the Forest Gate area, where she attended Dorothy School. On January 16, 1941 Marie married Reginald (Duke) Wilson. During the war years while Duke was overseas Marie and her two sons Sam and Bill moved to the Locke farm. The Wilsons moved to the Christopher Lake area in 1957, Marie worked at the McIntosh Point Cafe for several years and they lived in the DNR headquaters at Emma Lake. In the early sixties they moved to Christopher Lake where she resided until her passing. Marie was very active in every community she lived in. She joined Forest Gate legion and was known to always come to help when anyone needed a hand. She received the first Citizen of the Year award for the Christopher Lake area in 1984. Marie was active in the Christopher Lake Legion until her passing. She was awarded her 60 year pin for her Legion membership. For many years she was the volunteer Caretaker for the Legion Hall. Many miles were made in canvassing for the Red Cross for over 25 year, she enjoyed knitting mitts and making quilts which she gave away to friends and family. Marie was rich in friends and family.
Marie is survived by her son Sam and his daughter Michelle, her daughter Florence Heleta (Harry) and daughter Heather. Her sister Loella Knobel and her good neighbours George and Sheila Carruthers, and numerous nieces and nephews.
It was Marie's wish that there will be no funeral service.
