1931 – 2013
Phyllis passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK. She was born on September 3, 1931 in Birch Hills, SK. Phyllis was the eldest child to Ivan and Mary (Nelson) White. At age 11, the family moved from Birch Hills to Prince Albert. In 1951, Phyllis married Harry Major, they had one child Beverley. In 1958, Phyllis moved to Saskatoon and took her hairdressing training, and then came back in 1960 and worked for Helene’s Beauty Shop until 1976. Phyllis married Walter King in 1976 and they lived in Saskatoon. She did some hairdressing at various seniors homes. In 1986, they moved to Prince Albert. After Walter’s passing, she moved into Marquis Towers until December 2011 when she moved to Kopera’s Homecare until her passing. Phyllis is survived by her daughter Beverley (Gary) Semchuk, their children Lori (Richard) Dyok of North Battleford & children Brianna and Ashlyn; Lindsey (Wes) Hermann from Saskatoon & children Julianne, Lauryn and Andrew; Brendan (Jessica Wheeler) from Saskatoon & Brendan’s son Keegan Wolfe; one sister Fern MacEachern of Kelowna, BC & her daughters Maureen (Joe) MacEachern-DePellegrin of Prince George, BC and Kathy (Ken) MacEachern-Karasiuk of Kelowna, BC; her brother Jim White of Montreal, QC; her aunt Phyllis Peterson of Kelowna, BC and her nephew Kenneth Marshall of Quenel, BC. She was predeceased by her husband Walter King; her father Ivan White; her mother Mary (Nelson) White; her sister Shirley Marshall; her niece Elizabeth “Beth” Marshall and her brother-in-law Clifford MacEachern. A family graveside service will take place at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, Lorne Adams, Funeral Director.
