MARY LOUISE GRIMM
Mrs. Mary Louise Grimm, age 94, of Prince Albert and formerly of Shellbrook, passed away peacefully at home on May 1, 2013. She was born January 3, 1919 in Shellbrook, the daughter of William and Mary Whaling. Mary grew up on a farm four miles south of Shellbrook and attended Hazelridge School. When she left school, she went to work for Fred and Bell Grimm, where she met Earl. They were married on May 28, 1936 and together they farmed at Polworth. During the five years Earl spent with the Regina Rifle Regiment, Mary lived in Hamilton, ON working in a factory which manufactured buzz bombs. After the war they returned to Prince Albert and continued to expand their family. In 1958, they moved back to the Grimm family farm south of Shellbrook and continued farming until retirement in 1988 when they moved to Sherman Towers in Prince Albert. Mary leaves to mourn her daughter Darry-Ann (Larry) Coles and her children Mary Jean (Denis) Vigeant and great-grandchildren Christopher, Darla and Tanya, Bob (Tamara) Chapman and great-grandchildren Connor and Jenna; her son William Grimm; her daughter-in-law Betty (Paul) Malaka and her children Stewart (Roseline) Grimm and great-grandchildren Evan and Ryan, Charles Grimm; her sister Della (Axel) Pearson; and two foster children Dion (Geraldine) Starblanket and Madelaine Jim. She was predeceased by her husband Earl; her parents William and Mary Whaling; her sisters Hazel Barry, Amy (Clarence) Holte, Gladys (Cecil) Stewart and Lillian (George) Stene (Sonny) Holmes; her brothers W. James (Lucille) Whaling and Woodrow (Ann) Whaling; her oldest son Darrel W. Grimm; her infant son Earl; and her grandson Richard Chapman. A celebration of Mary’s life will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8 at River Park Memorial Chapel with The Very Reverend Kenneth Davis officiating. Interment will take place at Garden of the Last Supper, Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. Donations in lieu of floral tributes may be made to the Canadian Heart & Stroke Association.
