It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas William Holizki. Doug lost his fight to brain cancer January 25, 2013. He was born November 5, 1949 in Beinfait, Sk and spent his younger life in the Estevan area where he got a job with Sask Power in March of 1968, working in different locales around the province, retiring on January 14 2004 giving himself to his wife as an anniversary present. Doug enjoyed and played several sports, mainly Fast Ball, Golf, Hockey, and Slow Pitch and became very proficient at Bowling and enjoyed working with children and adults teaching them and improving their techniques of the game. After he retired Doug enjoyed travelling, especially, South for the winter where he could stay warm and not have to shovel any snow, coming home in the spring where he enjoyed working on his acreage, visiting family and enjoying watching his children and grandchildren playing their summer sports Doug was pre-deceased by his parents Marie and Joseph, his sister Phyllis, and infant son Jody, and is survived by his wife Ardele, daughter Terry (Doug) Thomson, Brockville Ont., sons Dustin (Jennifer) Calgary , Lawrence (Orpha) Prince Albert, 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, his 2 sisters Elaine (Barrie) Murray, Estevan, Carol Moran, Moose Jaw, 2 brothers Kenneth (Dorothy) Red Cliff, Mervin (Maureen) Gull Lake and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Doug’s Life Sunday May 19th at 2 pm in the Parkland Hall, Prince Albert. In lieu of flowers donations could be made to the Heart Foundation in his name.
