James Marvin Holodniuk
November 14, 1942 – June 11, 2013
It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of James Holodniuk on June 11, 2013 at the age of 70 years. James is the sixth of nine children born to William and Mary (nee Feschuk) Holodniuk of Meath Park on November 14, 1942. He attended Emillbury School and Albertville school. James joined the Canadian Armed Forces and served for 6 years. He later worked at the Prince Albert Federal Penitentiary from where he retired. James and his wife Ruth then bought the restaurant “Mom’s Cafe” where they served the community of Meath Park for 9 years. James & Ruth (nee Bergen) were married in 1964 and they had five children. As a father he was proud of and enjoyed partaking in the children’s events, including Ukrainian dancing, music events, baseball, hockey and hunting with his boys, this continued with his 16 grandchildren. James also enjoyed coaching baseball and teaching hunter’s safety and firearms safety. At his time of passing he resided in Regina. James will be sadly missed by his children: Janet Holodniuk, Tanya (Todd) Ingham, Trena (Brennan) La Roche, William (Nicole) Holodniuk and Michael (Erin) Holodniuk; the mother of his children: Ruth; his 16 grandchildren: Mary, Melissa, Rebecca & Isaac Gallerneault, Jacob & Joshua Arnason, Xander Ingham, Braden & Mikayla McGregor, Morgan La Roche, Zachariah, Taylor, Isaiah and Lahna Holodniuk and Jacey & Ayden Holodniuk; his partner: Darlene Clifford and her family; his sisters: Mary Smytaniuk, Eileen (Gilbert) Desjarlais and Alice (John) Kosik; his sister-in-law: Regina (Douglas) Herron; his brother-in-law: Norman (Patricia) Bergen; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. James was predeceased by his parents: William and Mary Holodniuk; his brothers: Michael, Frank and David; his sisters: Ann Schultz and Rose Brassard; his brother-in-law: William Smytaniuk; his son-in-law: Robert Gallerneault; his great-granddaughter: Rosalisa Gallerneault and his parents-in-law: Henry and Mary Bergen. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday June 14, 2013 at St. James Catholic Church, Albertville, SK – 2:00 pm with Father D.J. Vu officiating.
