ROBERT SAMUEL HOLLAND

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Samuel Holland at the age of 89 with his family by his side at the Victoria Hospital. Bob was born in Biggar, SK to Lulu Josephine (nee Young) and William Lee Holland where he grew up with his sisters Alice and Sharon and brother Graham. He was living in Watrous when he joined the Royal Canadian Navy at the age of 18. Bob was in the Second World War from December 1941 to November 1945 where he served on a Warship named H.M.C.S. Quesnel. He returned to Canada after the war and settled in Prince Albert where he got married and started his family. He has lived in the family home for over 60 years. His chosen trade was masonry. He retired from the Penitentiary where he was mason instructor with 22 years of service. Bob was an avid golfer and curler. He enjoyed outdoor life, sports and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bob is survived by his best friend Jean McKenna, his children, Ray (Penny), Joanne Barrett, Lance Nicols, Carol (Sandy) Smith and Vern (Judy). Bob is also survived by his grandchildren Brent (Margot) Barrett, Greg (Jessica) Barrett, Sherry (Geoff) Bishop and Amber (Devon) Kirkland, along with his 7 great grandchildren his sister Sharon Hagen and his brother Graham (Jackie) Holland along with numerous neices and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his parents Lulu and William, his sister Alice and her husband Lorne Bradley, a son-in-law Gordon Barrett and a daughter-in-law Judy Nicols. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion. Funeral service will be Saturday, June 15 at 2:00 p.m. at River Park Memorial Chapel. Private family interment to follow at Memorial Gardens. A luncheon and tea will follow at the Legion auditorium. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wayne Timoffee, Funeral Director at River Park Memorial Chapel.
