Sister Ida-Marie Hainault

Sister Ida-Marie Hainault (Sister Présentine-de-Jésus) of the Sisters Presentation of Mary, passed away on Wednesday, June 12th, 2013 at the age of 92 in the Provincial House Infirmary. Prayer service will be held in the Provincial House Chapel on Sunday, June 16th, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated from the Provincail House Chapel at 1405 Bishop Pascal Place in Prince Albert, SK on Monday, June 17th, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.by His Excellency Bishop Albert Thévenot. Sister Ida-Marie is survived by the members of her religious community; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Albert et Elizabeth (née Grenon); her three sisters Dorina (George Gaudreau), Anita, Sœurs grises de St. Hyacinthe, PQ), Cécile (Guy Lajeunesse); her five brothers Arthur (Colombe Beauchemin), Armand (Agnès Langlois), Bernard (Anne- Marie Desjardins), François (Bernadette Rondeau), Albert. Sister Ida-Marie was born in Notre-Dame-Richelieu (Rouville) P.Q. In 1938 she joined the Order of the Sisters of the Presentation and began her studies in Saint Hyacinthe, QC. Since there was a great need for French teachers out West, Sister Ida-Marie arrived in Duck Lake, SK in 1941, just a few months after her religious profession. For seventy years, with much success, Sister Ida-Marie devoted her years to teaching French in Duck Lake, Debden, Marcelin, Academy Presentation of Mary, in Laurier and St. Lazare, Manitoba. From 1985-1995, she offered her services to our Sisters in Exeter, England with the hope of learning to speak English more fluently. She helped in different tasks wherever it was needed, one of these being a librarian. After a career that spanned fifty years, Sister Ida-Marie moved to the Provincial House in Prince Albert. Throughout her retirement years, Sister Ida-Marie never really stopped teaching French to high school students and adults. She also kept herself busy being a receptionist, doing book binding, preparing children for receiving the sacraments. Sister Ida-Marie will be remembered as a dedicated educator of the Faith and an avid teacher of the French language until the very end.
