On Friday, July 5, 2013, Mabel went home to be with the Lord and to join her loving husband Lawrence Boettcher who predeceased her on September 30, 1997. Mabel was also predeceased by her son Barry Boettcher on April 10, 1999, her brother Bill Owens, her mother and father Alfred and Mary Owens. Mabel was born on August 27, 1919 in Alingly, SK. Mabel married Lawrence Boettcher on October 27, 1941 and lived in Larry’s parents farm in Wheatly. Their daughter Marilyn was born on September 4, 1942 and Mabel moved to her parent’s farm in Alingly while her brother Bill and husband Larry joined the Infantry in Regina in 1943. When they returned in 1945, they moved to their own land in Spruce Home. Barry was then born April 5, 1947. Many tough years were spent farming but they always found time to spend together fishing, camping, bowling , golfing and curling. Mabel was a great cook and enjoyed baking. She worked as hard as any man and picked rocks and roots while taking meals to Larry and Barry in the fields. Throughout the years Mabel served the community through helping several charitable organizations, canvassing and singing at local churches and health care facilities. Mabel is survived by her daughter Marilyn (Ted) Dawson of Florida, USA and grandchildren Jason (Cheryl), Laurie (Tim) and Tyler (LeeAnn), her great-grandchildren Lance, Ashley, Austin, Braiden, Haylee, Cole, Tyler Jr., her great-great-grandchild Jaylon. Her friends and neighbors were like family to her and she will dearly be missed by all who knew her. She took pride in her great-grandchildren and was always interested in their lives even though they lived far away.
