HOTZAK, LOIS
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lois Hotzak. Mom passed away peacefully on July 11, 2013 at Royal University Hospital with her family by her side. Lois will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her son Randall, daughters Barb, Bev (Kevin), Debbie (Mike), and grandchildren Sarah and Cameron. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Peterson of Michigan; two sisters-in-law Alice Thorpe and Helen Thorpe of Prince Albert; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by: her parents Archie and Sarah (McKay) Glass; her husband of 35 years Zane Hotzak, her two sisters Irene Benoit and Mary Young; her three brothers Thomas Glass, Lee Glass and Ron Glass. Lois was born November 8, 1931. She took her schooling in MacDowall, and after high school moved to Prince Albert. She began working as an operator at SaskTel where she made many friends, some of whom she still met with monthly. In 1953, she married Zane and they moved back to MacDowall and began working the family farm where she resided until her passing. Mom was always busy, whether it was in her home, garden or yard, but always had time for and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and they have many fond memories of their adventures with Grandma. Mom also enjoyed and had a special way with all animals, especially horses, and passed that on to her children. Mom lived life to the fullest and will be deeply missed. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 17 in the MacDowall Lions Recreation Centre. A private family interment will follow in Deer Park Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be made to the MacDowall & District Recreation Foundation Inc., PO Box 122, MacDowall, SK, S0K 2S0.
