Haney, K.R. “Guy”
July 18, 1942-August 8, 2013
Guy passed peacefully, with his family by his side, in Prince Albert Victoria Hospital on August 8, 2013, after many years suffering with COPD. Guy was born in Prince Albert, grew up and graduated High School in Melfort in 1959. He then graduated from Radio College of Canada in 1963. Upon graduation he began his career at SaskTel in Saskatoon. In 1970, he transferred to Regina and worked until retirement in 1992. He then had a one year contract working on the train communications for the Chunnel project (England to France). He “snowbirded” for two winters down south before moving to Prince Albert for the rest of his life. Guy loved reading, the outdoors and golf, but mostly his family and his wonderful nieces and nephews. Guy was predeceased by his parents: Watson and Vera; his sister: Maureen: his nephew: Kelly; and his boxer buddies: Kemo and Duke.
He is survived by his sisters: Lynne (Doug) Cheyne and Debbie (Garry) Waldner; and his brother Terry. Also missing him are his nieces and nephews: Kari (Rod) Williams, Shawn Mosher (Jackie), Lisa Zanyk (Bryan), Kami Harbidge (Greg), Jana and Lindsay McDougal; and his great nieces and nephews: Cody (Jenny) and Cain Bellamy, Maria and Brandon Mosher, Noah and Rachel Zanyk, Madison Harbidge, Verina and Chael Olson. When I heard of his death, I went back to bed and looked out the window. I saw one twinkling star, I knew it was Guy and that he had just arrived – FREE at last. Rest easy dear Guy, you will be missed and loved forever. There will be no public service. In lieu of any flowers, please make a donation, in his name, to the Lung Association of Saskatchewan, 1231 8th Street E, Saskatoon, SK S7H 0S5. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Victoria Hospital for their care and kindness.
