Gordon Andrew Pichette

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gordon Andrew Pichette beloved husband of Edna on Monday, August 12, 2013 at the Victoria Hopsital at the age of 86. He was born on August 3, 1927 in Battleford, SK to Andrew and Nellie Pichette. As a child they moved to Rabbit Lake, SK where he attended Reserve Lake School. As a young man, Gord enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping in the Chitek Lake area. In the 1950’s he spent 2 years in the PA Sanatorium with Tuberculosis. In the late 50’s he met Edna and they began their life together in the Leoville area where he ran a garage and Edna ran a boarding house. In 1963 they moved to Prince Albert where Gordon worked at the Pineland Plymouth dealership. In 1968 Gordon was hired as a mechanic and moved up to Supervisor with PA Pulp Wood which later became Weyerhaeuser where he retired in 1993. In 1975 they purchased an acreage in Meath Park where he enjoyed many years with friends and family. Gordon is survived by his loving wife Edna (nee Nelson); his children Terry (Mary), Don (Linda), Dwight, Garry (Genny) and Fay; his son-in-law Jim Paramchuk; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; his sister Marion (Fred) Ballachay as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Nellie; his daughter Marlene; his sisters Edwina, Nelly, Dorothy (Mervin) and his nephew Teddy. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 21 from River Park Memorial Chapel. Major Harvey Compton will officiate. Interment of cremated remains will take place at a later date. It is the family’s request that those wishing to place memorials may do so to the Victoria Hospital Foundation.
