Alan came from a large family and had many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Alan was predeceased by his grandparents: William and Annie Mulessa, Skuli Jon Hurdal; step-brother Greg Cathcart; grandson Jesse Mulessa and step-granddaughter Jayden Helstrom. Alan was born on December 14, 1966 in Snow Lake, MB. He was an active child and had a curiosity about everything. Alan loved people and made friends easily wherever he went whether it be in Lynn Lake, Flin Flon, Carman, Dauphin or Thompson. Alan graduated in June 1986, where he completed high school in Dauphin and attended the Lynn Lake graduation ceremony where he could be with his buddies. Alan was a hard worker and held many different jobs throughout his life. For those of you who knew Alan, knew he was a dreamer. This took him from Lynn Lake, where he had his first job out of high school with drilling company Borat Longyear, to finally being a handyman here in Saskatoon, SK. Alan later settled in Saskatoon where he was close to his doctors and specialists. Alan had a strong faith and as a young boy decided to attend the Catholic Church in Carman where he was baptized. Where ever he lived, he would attend a church whether it be Pentecostal, United or Anglican. He found comfort and peace in his belief in God. Alan thought of Lynn Lake as his home away from home; he loved the North. He always enjoyed fishing with his buddies on Cochrane, Moses and Anson Lake. Alan loved his family and enjoyed the company of all. He always had a big smile on his face and never complained. Alan had a heart of gold, would help anyone who needed it and always had a story to tell you. As a child, he was happy-go-lucky, with a twinkle in his eye. He always had that mischievous grin and you would know he was up to something. Services for Alan will be held on August 22, 2013 at the Saskatoon Funeral Home (338 4th Avenue North) at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow. A Graveside service for immediate family will be held in Lynn Lake at 2 p.m. on August 24, 2013. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME (306-244-5577).
