Jacqueline Whitehead
1932 – 2013
It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Jacqueline Irene Whitehead, on Wednesday, August 28 in Prince Albert surrounded by her family. Jackie is survived by her loving husband and partner of 61 years Lloyd; six daughters and one son, DARLENE (Wayne Michel), Taryn and Melissa; JACKIE (Eugene Smith), Malcolm and Michael; DEBBIE (David Hunter), Karen, David, Darren; JOANNE (Doug Barmby), Tammy, Tyler, Tanis and Austin; MELODY (Brent Kennedy), Shauna and Brett; TERRI (Jack McDonald), Nicole and Ashley; DARREN, Dallas and Devin and twenty-eight great grandchildren; her brother Allan Delmage and sister Gerry Knox; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Mabel Delmage; her parents-in-law George and Margaret Whitehead; her brother Gordon Delmage and grandchildren Christopher Michel and Ella Rose Brown. Mom was born on June 30, 1932 in Regina where she met and married Dad on May 31, 1952. They moved to Saskatoon seven years later and made their final home in Prince Albert in 1967. Mom worked for the Department of Social Services until she had her 5th child and then became a full-time stay-at-home mom, and full-time it was. Mom always was there cheering and supporting her children in their numerous activities and later in life even more so with her grandchildren’s activities. Mom was a YBC coach for many years, an active bowler herself and formed many long lasting friendships through bowling. She was a member of the Army and Navy Unit 222 for 33 years. She served on the Ladies Auxiliary for several years and was honored to be awarded with the Life Time Membership Award for her dedicated service. Mom was also a long time member of the Legion. Mom loved gardening and loved to share her small crop by stocking everyone’s shelves with the canned goods. She was a fantastic cook and could put a meal together with a moment’s notice. Her door was always open and she loved to have company and play cards. She always made Christmas special for everyone and never forgot a birthday. Mom made their family cabin at Emma Lake a second home for anyone who walked through the door. Her motto was “the more the merrier”. Mom and dad loved to travel and spent many years going to Texas for the winter months. Our Mom, better known by her grandchildren as Grandma Blue, was so proud of all of us and never missed an opportunity to tell you so. She loved us all unconditionally and will be forever in our hearts and deeply missed. Rest in Peace Mom. Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Calvary United Church, 114 – 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Nora Vedress officiating.
