With heartfelt sadness, the family of Mary Mikulsky announces her passing in Regina on Sept.5, 2013 at the age of 96 years.
Mary was predeceased by her husband John in 1998.
She was also predeceased by her parents, Steve & Justina Dobrowolsky,
brother, Harold( Anne), brother,Mike (May), infant, sister Helen & sister Anne & (Art) Katrynuik.
Mary is survived by her Son Walter Mikulsky and Daughter Sylvia & Les Kruchkowski
Grandson Shaun & Debbie Kruchkowski , great-granddaughters Hailey & Nicole
Granddaughter Tracey & Paul Roblin , great-granddaughters Taylor & Cortney
Grandson Kim & Terra Kruchkowski , great-granddaughter Addyson & Hope
Numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Mary was born on her parents homestead, and attended school at Maryville in the Gronlid area.
As she was growing up she helped with housework, farm chores and enjoyed drawing and embroidery. The family were members of the Holy Ascension Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Old Maryville), where they attended church, religious and social functions.
Mary married John on September 20, 1942 in the same church she attended as a child..They lived on her parents’ farm briefly and then moved to Gronlid.
They were blessed with a son Walter and a daughter Sylvia.
Mary was on the executive of the Old Maryville Hall Ladies Organization and Franko Ukrainian Womens Organization. Mary kept to her Ukrainian Orthodox religion, faith in God and was proud of her Ukrainian heritage and culture.
John and Mary were caretakers of the old Gronlid Hall and Gronlid School.
Mary took pride in gardening, was a member of the 4-H Garden Club. She enjoyed her flower garden and indoor plants. She enjoyed cooking (including Ukrainian dishes), baking and sewing. Sylvia and Mary would often get together to garden, bake and cook. Mary enjoyed the outdoors, visiting, camping, and playing games. She also liked travelling, TV shows, Ukrainian music and playing practical jokes on people.
She enjoyed time with her grandchildren, Shaun, Tracey and Kim. They travelled together and camped in the USA and Canada. As time went on she enjoyed special moments with her great-granddaughters who always looked forward to a surprise gift from Great Baba.
Mary enjoyed visiting with family especially at Christmas and Easter to visit, eat, drink and celebrate. She also ensured to give her visitors some food to take home.
Mary was determined and expressed her opinion, always kept busy and helped others.
Mary always got nice compliments that she looked good for her age.
She always had a very pleasant smile, courteous and thanked the staff for their help.
Mary lived with her son Walter in Regina after her husband passed away in 1998.
In September 2011 she became a resident of Extendicare Parkside Nursing Home in Regina. She developed a positive attitude to her new home and staff.
Mom, Baba, Great Baba you will always be in our hearts. We love you and will never forget you.
You were an inspiration to us and we thank God for sharing you with us for so many years.
