Alan David Groff
January 19, 1952 – November 1, 2013
Alan David Groff left this life on November 1, 2013. Alan was born on January 19, 1952 in Melville, SK to David and Eunice (Dobson). Alan went to elementary and high school in Melville. In 1970 Alan joined the Bank of Montreal directly out of high school finishing this career with the bank 40 years later. Alan always excelled at his career, if not for the numbers, for the staff that he built lifelong relationships with, and the many, many customers who became friends forever. During Alan’s banking career he participated on numerous boards, foundations and proudly as Rotarian for decades. Always proudly supporting and promoting Prince Albert. Alan’s favorite hobby was “people”, everyone he met was a source of worth and interest. He was the consummate “people person”! He shared his love of flower gathering with every gardener he met. Alan enjoyed fishing, golfing, refinishing furniture, and having coffee time with all of his coffee friends. On September 1, 1972 Alan married Bernice Andrusyk, high school sweethearts who now say “where did the time go!”. How lucky we both were! Alan and Bernice’s greatest accomplishment was their daughters and their husbands, until they were blessed with their four grandchildren. That is an extra special time!! Holidays were a constant source of enjoyment for Alan and Bernice. First, it was Candle Lake with little girls, and later at Elkridge, then extended holidays in Europe with dear friends, and Palm Springs was the perfect green winter for Alan. Alan was predeceased by his parents, David and Eunice Graff; his mother and father-in-law John and Annie Andrysyk; his niece Kathleen and nephews Brent, Ricky, Christopher, Keith and Jamie and his brother-in-law George. Left to celebrate Alan’s life are his wife Bernice; daughters Tera Jennifer (David) Simms and their children Vivienne and Ray; Amber Lea (Gord) Kostuik and their children Ara and Shea; sisters Shirley Angus and Debbie (Ryan) Wirth; brothers and sisters-in-law Russell and Irene Andrusyk, Walter and Kathy Andrusyk, Nick and Joan Andrusyk, Pauline and Harold Isfeld and Janet and Rod Fiddler; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Alan’s legacy will always be his children and grandchildren to carry on his love of family, life and to make PaPa proud! Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 1796 – 15th Avenue East, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Dennis Serfas, Director Spiritual Care, Prince Albert Parkland Health Region officiating.
