October 4, 1936 – November 4, 2013
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Lorne Harold Eldstrom at the age of 77 in his peaceful corner of the world, Candle Lake, SK on November 4th, 2013. Lorne was the first born of Eileen (Fowler) and Wendel Eldstrom on October 4th, 1936 at the family farm in Assiniboia, SK. He moved north to Prince Albert in November, 1957 and was welcomed into the Romeo Frenette family as one of their own. He came to work at McLeod's Hardware Store as a manager trainee and shortly thereafter met his true love and life partner Fern (Pushie). They married on November 8th, 1958 in Birch Hills, SK and from their union two son were born, Brent and Craig. He joined the Prince Albert City Police Force where he served for eight years. He then moved to SGI as a claims adjuster before he and Fern purchased Stefaniuk Agencies in 1976, which later became Eldstrom Insurance Ltd. They worked there together for 25 years before retiring to Candle Lake in 2001. Lorne was a proud father and dedicated husband. He enjoyed sharing time with, and was very proud of his grandchildren. He was a quiet, generous, honest and humble man who always treated others with dignity and respect. He was a long time member of the Prince Albert Cosmo Club and enjoyed his favourite sports teams – The Toronto Blue Jays and Saskatchewan Roughriders. He also enjoyed watching his sons’ hockey and fast ball games over the years. Lorne had a great sense of humour and loved exchanging jokes and sharing laughs with others. He is survived by his wife Fern of 55 years; son Brent (Hilary) and children, Brandon (Natalie Dinsdale), Rachel (Fred Burgess), Alexis; son Craig (Paula) and children Ashley (Chad Klein) and great-grandson Carson, Matthew; one sister Judy (Ed) Bellay; four sisters-in-law Yvonne & Harve Skrudland, Lorraine & Stan Phillips, Bev & Lorne Smith, Myrna & Cliff Williams and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to sincerely thank the Candle Lake First Responders for their caring and compassionate support. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 1796 – 15th Avenue East, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Eldon Danielson officiating.
