1955 – 2013
Daryl's family is extremely saddened to announce her passing on Friday, November 8, 2013 at her home in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Daryl was born in Evesham, Worcestershire, England, the second daughter of Ron and Mollie (Mary) Rushbrooke. At the age of 14, she immigrated to Canada with her family and attended Indian Head High School where she excelled in sports. After high school she attended the University of Saskatchewan graduating with Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Science (Phy. Ed) degrees and was pleased to accept a full-time teaching position at Wesmor school in Prince Albert where she taught for many years before transferring to Riverside Community School. In 2011, Daryl retired from teaching and looked forward to spending more time fishing and relaxing at her cottage at Little Bear Lake, however, life took a nasty turn when she was diagnosed with cancer in September, 2012. Daryl was predeceased by her parents, Ron and Mollie Rushbrooke; maternal Grandparents, Ernest and Phoebe (Nell) Roberts; paternal grandparents, Bertie and Ruby Rushbrooke; and paternal grandmother Amelia Louise Fulcher whom she never met. She is survived by her sister Rowlatt Hill, nephews Daryl (Sherry) and Evan Hill, great niece Allecia Hill (all of Regina); her aunts Eunice (Anne) Rushbrooke and Hazel (Geoff) Worledge; and cousins Simon (Lisa), Allison (Graham) and Andrew (Naomi) – all in England; and her Canadian family Ann and Ray Dayes and family (Ontario); her faithful Dachshund companion “Missy Mollie”; and the best bunch of friends anyone could wish for! A Celebration of Daryl's Life will be held at Gray's Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK on Saturday, November 30, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Please wear your best fishing gear, sweat pants or jeans (Daryl’s favourite outfits). Daryl was a lifelong educator and animal lover. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donation in Daryl's memory may be made to the Prince Albert SPCA, any registered children's charity, or to a charity of your choice. Daryl was a wonderful sister, aunt, great aunt, niece, cousin and valued, loving friend. She will be greatly missed. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, Lorne Adams, Funeral Director.
