Eva Sinkiewicz
1915 – 2013
Eva Sinkiewicz (Hollingshead) passed away peacefully on Saturday December 7th, 2013, with her loving family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband Frank Sinkiewicz; her parents William and May (Cousins) Hollingshead; a sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Cal Dunlop; a brother and sister-in law Gordon and Margaret Hollingshead; sister Caroline; son-in-law Edward Slowenko, and three siblings in infancy. Eva is survived by her sister Doreen (Earl Slawson; her brothers Ernest (Donna) and Ray (Ethel); her daughter Ellen Slowenko; grandchildren Gordie (Sun Young), Robin (Christine) and Faith (Dean Staff), and great grandchildren Anya, Lara, Alexander, James and Frank Slowenko, Madeline, Lilly and Eden Staff, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Born in Havre, Montana, USA, July 10, 1915, she moved with her family to a homestead in the Meath Park area. She attended Janow School and PACI Collegiate. In 1935, she married Frank Sinkiewicz and they started their business, The Meath Park Supply. They successfully ran this business for 25 years, it was very much a joint effort, Frank always said “it takes two.” Their daughter Ellen was born in 1937. Eva was very devoted to Zion Presbyterian Church in Meath Park where she taught Sunday School for 25 years and ran the Explorers and Youth Groups. In 1961, Frank and Eva moved to Prince Albert where Frank began his career with Investors Group. Eva sold real estate for a short while then worked for many years at Elizabeth's Flowers. She was active in St Paul's Presbyterian Church in choir, Sunday school and Women's Missionary Society (lifetime member since 1965). We remember her for her passion for flowers and gardening and her wonderful buns and pies. But most of all we remember her for being a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. The family extends their gratitude to the Palisades Intermediate Care Home for their kindness and caring during the seven years she spent there. Deep gratitude to Reverend Amanda and the pastoral care team from St. Andrew Presbyterian Saskatoon. We also thank Preston Extendicare for their caring and compassion. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Amanda Currie officiating. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Red Cross, 54-11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, Drew Gray, Funeral Director.
