Ed (Ken) Eaton
Ed Eaton, 62, of Prince Albert SK died unexpectedly in his home on the 22nd of December 2013. Ed is survived by, and will be sadly missed by, his daughter Emma Eaton and her mother Christine Peet; his siblings: sisters Deb (Glen) Wingert, Gerianne (Keith) Dale and Wendy (David) Hogemann, and brothers Lonnie (Sherry) Eaton and Kim (Barb) Eaton; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Murray and Isobel (Knaus) Eaton. Ed was a teacher and a mentor to other teachers, as well as anyone who knew him and had an interest in expanding their knowledge. He taught in various parts of the world, spanning from Papua New Guinea to Northern Saskatchewan, where he taught in many communities. Anywhere he taught is a better place for his having been there. Ed loved to play darts. He was president of the bridge club, and enjoyed curling, hockey, and baseball. He especially loved watching sports or listening to music and enjoying a beer with some of his many friends. He taught many of those friends about the games they were watching, the music they were playing, or the folly of their political, economic, or historical viewpoint. His circle of friends was wide and diverse. In his mid forties, Ed was blessed with the arrival of his daughter Emma. He often said “If I knew being a parent was so much fun, I would have done it sooner.” He always supported Emma in whatever she wanted to try and always encouraged her to try new things. He loved the arts and performances ranging from professional theatre to productions in which Emma participated. He loved history and literature and was an avid genealogist. Many of his friends will miss his knowledgeable conversations including history, religion, life, and sports. A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Nordale Hall, 1306 – 6th Avenue NW, Prince Albert, SK. In lieu of other tributes, donations can be made in Ed’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, Myriam Minier, Funeral Director.
