Mom/Gramma left us peacefully December 28th, 2013. Lorraine was a unique, charismatic, strong woman. She was born and raised in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and passed away in Sidney British Columbia – living in BC since 2004. It was Prince Albert where she married her husband Hubert and raised her two daughters – Lynne and Gale. Lorraine worked at the local television station – CKBI. She also became a successful real estate agent. It is this career path where she cultivated many new friends and acquaintances. Lorraine was a pioneer for businesswoman in Prince Albert, well known in the community as an enthusiastic leader. She served on the executive of the Prince Albert Real Estate Board, Provincial President of Toastmasters and served in a number of executive positions with the Prince Albert Lioness Club. Ask any of her grandchildren, they will tell you that she was the best grandmother – certainly not a traditional Gramma – but the best! Lorraine enjoyed keeping fit, reading and spending time with her family. Many great stories can be relayed about family time at ‘the cabin’ in La Ronge, Candle Lake and Emma Lake. She will be remembered for her great sense of humour and strong opinions!
Remembered with love and missed by her daughter Gale (Frank) Fidyk, grandchildren Maureen (Kim) Morrision, Scott Fidyk, Jill (Kris) Korven, Shannon (Kevin) Slade and Susan (Erik) Adlersparre. Greatgrandchildren – Erin, Carly, Drew, Erika, Nolan, Gus, Zoe, Sawyer, Nicola, Shane and Rhea. Her son-in-law Bob Mcleod, sister Madeline Lacey and brother Glen (Eileen) Hall as well as many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband Hubert Hawksworth (1979), her daughter Lynne Donnelly (2013), granddaughter Karen Fidyk (1991), her sister Audrey (Hall) Ketchum (1995) and twin brothers Jack and Doug Hall (2013)
A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2013 at 12:00 pm at St. Elizabeth’s Church 10030 3rd Street, Sidney, BC.
