Mary Margaret “Peg” Dyker died peacefully in her 94th year surrounded by the love of her family on Saturday, January 18, 2014. Peg was born in Calgary in 1920 to Warren and Ida Bickle. She grew up in Rosetown, SK., and as a young adult moved to Winnipeg, MB to complete her post secondary education. Soon after, she met the love of her life Dr. Gordon Dyker. They enjoyed 68 happy years together before he predeceased her in 2008. Peg will be missed and remembered by her five children Joan (Dean) Barner of North Bay, ON, Allan (Cheryl) Dyker of Saskatoon, SK, Patricia (Ray) Stauffer of Calgary, AB, Susan Kopinya of West Vancouver, BC and Scott Dyker of Burlington, ON; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her parents; sister Joan Dunlop; daughter-in-law Maria Dyker and son-in-law Paul Kopinya. Peg was a wonderful wife and mother as well as a major contributor to her community. She was an athlete who excelled at tennis in her younger years as well as golf and curling. She was also a major cheerleader of the pursuits of her husband Gordon and her five children. She and Gordon enjoyed 20 wonderful years wintering at Sun Lakes, Arizona and spending summers at their beloved Waskesiu cabin. A Memorial Service will be held at Gray's Funeral Chapel in the spring and will be announced at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
