MUMMERY, Gordon Raymond
July 27, 1930 – January 18, 2014
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gordon Raymond Mummery (Ray) on January 18, 2014 at the age of 83 years. He will be lovingly remembered by the “Love of his life” – Laurie who he married in 1959, his son – Brad, daughter- Debbie (Vaughan) Payne, and his two grandsons – Jeremy and Christopher Payne, who were his pride and joy. Ray is also survived by his sister Muriel Mackay, sisters – in-law – Vera Goodman, Shirley (Dennis) Teeling, Sheila Reimche, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ray was born in Plato, Sask. And moved to Prince Albert, Sask. at the age of three. He joined the Royal Canadian Artillery at the age of 19 and was accepted in to the officer’s training program, where he rose to rank of Major. He served countries throughout his career, including the NATO peace keeping missions in the Middle East. Upon retirement from the Military in 1979, Ray entered Real Estate business in Calgary in partnership with Laurie. Ray was the life of many events with his love of music, dancing and friendship to his family and friends. Always one to play quiet joke with his unique sense of humour, his passing will leave us all with a sense of emptiness, but knowing we have so many great memories to cherish him by. Ray left us all a lasting legacy in that he lived, loved, raised and served, and to that, made our lives better for all he taught us, a job well done. May you Rest in Peace! Ray is predeceased by his sister Marjorie Guthrie, brother-in-law – Hughie Guthrie, and brother-in-law Murdoch Mackay.
