Todd Douglas Horner

August 30, 1962 – February 19,2014

Todd Horner, late of Prince Albert, SK passed away on February 19, 2014 at the age of 51 years in Prince Albert, SK. It is with great sadness, a husband, father, grandpa, brother, son and friend lost his brave fight with cancer. Todd battled many health issues throughout his life, determined to win. Cancer could not slow him down, he travelled the Caribbean, he visited his many friends, and he counseled others, the connections he lost over the years he regained. Todd loved to ride his beloved motorbike. Todd experienced and lived life to the fullest.

Todd leaves behind his wife Cindy Horner (Miller), his daughters: Rebecca (Clifford) Greyeyes and Robyn Ahenakew and grandson Azayah; his step daughters: Samantha Newman and Bailey (Imran) Newman and granddaughters Ryleigh and Abbey; his step sons: Ryan Greyeyes and grandchildren Trinity, Ava, Marius and Gabrielle; Tyler Greyeyes and grandchildren: Gracie, Karina, Joel, Monica; and Blake Greyeyes and grandchildren: Ayden, Sinead, Taya; his mother Pat Horner, his brother Scott (Renee) Horner, nieces and nephews Heather (Josh), Gary, Justice, Jezzie, Jaggar, Ryker, Hadley Horner; his mother in law Maria Campbell, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father Brian Horner, and his grandparents Frank & Edith Weibe and Gordon Horner.

He will be sadly missed but we will continue to celebrate his life through memories. Thank you to all his friends, family, hospital staff, employers who supported him in his last years battling disease.

Todd was born in Saskatoon, and lived his early years in Shellbrook, SK with his mom Pat, dad Brian and his brother Scott. The family moved to Edmonton for 4 years, they moved again to Prince Albert following their dad’s road construction work. In September 1970, the families' life was turned upside down with the tragic car accident of Brian Horner. The family of three packed up and moved to Saskatoon. Eventually, Pat managed to buy an acreage and introduced the boys to farm life. Todd loved the country living, he could ride his horse, dirt bike and sleds with no restrictions. He wasn't fond of all the chores that came with farm life, but he developed a strong work ethic that carried him through his whole life. In 1977, Todd's rare disease Histiocytosis firmly took hold of him, and the family moved into the city. Todd spent all his grade nine year in the hospital until doctors finally figured out what was going on. In 1979, the family managed to get back to an acreage and a few years later Todd had the need to get moving on with his life. He felt his disease cheated him out of his youth and was determined to make up for lost time. He decided to live his life as each day was his last.

Over the years he worked at Weyerhaeuser until the mill shut down. He then went up North road building until he came to his last position supervising with Kiewit and he travelled throughout British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. His life was once again disrupted by Cancer and Diabetes Insipidus, he fought the battle again and thought he won it.

Later in life Todd managed to confront, manage and defeat his demons, with the help of NA, AA and some extremely loyal friends. With the support of this group not only did he defeat his demons, he managed to help others defeat theirs. Todd started a support group at the Penitentiary which he was very dedicated to and extremely proud of. His phone was always ringing. Todd loved riding his Harley and jamming with his buddies, but most of all he loved his children, his grandchildren, his family and his wife Cindy. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.
