MIKE BOYKO
1940 – 2014
It is with deeply saddened hearts that the family announces that Mike Boyko passed away peacefully at the age of 73 on the early morning of February 22, 2014 at the Victoria Hospital. Mike was born November 10, 1940 at High Tor, SK. Mike was predeceased by his parents Paul and Polly (nee Stasiuk) Boyko; his siblings Olga, Nick, Steve and Bill in infancy; his sister Lena (Walter) Woytowich; his brother John; his brothers-in-law Walter Woytowich, Bernie Parada and Henry Friemark; his sisters-in-law Evelyn, Bev and Marian Boyko; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Mike and Annie Harmatiuk. Mike leaves behind his loving wife of 47 years Antoinette Katharine Harmatiuk “Toni”; their son Darryl and grandson Dylan; their daughter Shannon (Lee) Zoerb and grandchildren Sidney and Braydin Zoerb; his sisters Mary Friemark and Rose Parada; his brothers Pete, Paul (Faye), Walter (Diane), Mytro (Brenda), Tom (Vicky); his sister-in-law Gloria (Oliver) Lepine, his brothers-in-law George (Maryann), Victor, Denis (Colleen) and Allan Harmatiuk. Mike will be dearly missed by numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members and close friends. Mike married his love and constant companion Toni on October 8, 1966. They resided in Prince Albert where Mike worked as a mechanic for 29 years for the DNS, which later changed to the Department of Highways, until his retirement in 1998. Mike’s greatest passion was spending time with his grandchildren and working in his garage (snow blowers, lawnmowers, etc.) Neighbours and friends knew Mike as the excellent handy mechanic for their small machine repairs. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and watching sports, especially the Roughriders. Thank you to the nursing staff at the Victoria Hospital for all their care and kindness shown towards Mike and his family. A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 27 at Scarborough Baptist Church, 2650 – 6 Avenue East, Prince Albert. Pastor Gerry Wortman will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Colette Kadziolka, Funeral Director.
