Therese Marie Polard
1921- 2014
Polard, Therese Marie (Nee Lepage) was born on the family farm March 14, 1921 to Zenon and Albertine (St.Pierre) Lepage. The 13th of 14 siblings, she was the last survivor among them. She was also pre-deceased by her parents, her husband of 46 years Pierre Polard and two infant grandchildren, Engel Mewis and Luka Florizone. Therese is survived by her five children; Aline (Lionel) Florizone, Maurice (Liz Riehl) Polard, Diane (Roger) Beaulac, Jacqueline (Les) Mewis, Lionel (Colette Olszewski) Polard; 18 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren. Her family lived on the farm at St.Denis until Therese was 11 when the family moved to Eldred, driven out by the ‘dirty-thirties’. They started over with very little, but made ends meet. They never were hungry and in fact helped families around who were less fortunate. At 20 she married Pierre Polard and they began life on a farm at Leoville, where they farmed for several years. They moved into Leoville after a few years when Pierre worked away at different places. Therese operated the Pool hall, the bowling alley, the confectionary/cafe and cut hair! Family was always the center of her life, and with many brothers and sisters in the community, her home became one of the favorite family gathering places. There was always good food, and good times singing and playing the mandolin. In 1965 the family moved to Saskatoon where Therese worked at Quaker Oats until her retirement. They then moved to Prince Albert to retire. Her faith was absolutely unwavering, and was always one whose prayer was counted upon in times of trouble. Therese believed in exercise and stretching and was incredibly agile for her age. Therese absolutely loved her condo, trips all across Canada and particularly her trips to Palm Springs for the past few winters. She found good in everyone, and her positive attitude made her an absolute joy to be around. Her telephone was her favorite way to keep in touch, and she ended every call to family with the words “I love you all and you are in my prayers”. Prayer Service will be held at 7p.m. on Tuesday May 13, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday May 14, 2014 with Reverend Father Roque Concepcion. Both services will be held at St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church, 260- 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday May 15, 2014, at the Leoville Cemetery. Memorial donations in Therese’s memory may be directed to the Society of the Little Flower, 7021 Stanley Ave Niagara Falls ON L2G 7B7. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Beau “Lac” Funeral Home, Prince Albert- Marianne Turcotte and Edward Beaulac, Funeral Directors ( 306-763-3322).
