MR. DAVID WELYGAN
Dave Welygan, age 74, passed away on May 11, 2014. He was born to Mike Welygan and Rose Swartz April 19, 1940 in Melfort, SK. The family moved to Snowden when Dave was three years old. He attended school at Inland and Snowden Schools. Dave left home at 16 and became a brakeman on the train from Prince George to Prince Rupert. Dave worked construction for many years before partnering with the late Jim Robertson in the bush and trucking business. They were partners for a lot of years before dividing their company and each taking over their own trucking business. Eventually Dave sold his trucks but did not retire. Dave is survived by his wife Myrna, four children Kim (Virgil), Dave (Val), Brad (Melinda) and Lannie (Mike); eight grandchildren Dustin (Kaitlin), Cassidy, Jackson, Colby, Brianne, Taylor, Morgan and Peyton; two brothers Alvin (Evadnee)and Leonard (Sylvia); four sisters Dianne Racketti, Edith (Joe) Boos, Joyce (Branko) Lacovich and Jaynne Wellygan; his in-laws Shirley (Wally) Meier, Ben (Darlene) Bell, Bruce (Dorothy) Bell, Leona (Ray) Miller, Lawrence (Wendy) Bell; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his infant daughter Lori; his brothers-in-law Wally Miller and Ivan Racketti. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Kidney Foundation. The family wish to extend gratitude to the Palliative Care Unit at the Victoria Hospital for their excellent care in Dave’s final days. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 17 at the Snowden Hall. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Snowden. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Donald M. Moriarty, Funeral Director.
