Ernie Thoms
October 17, 1943 – May 17, 2014

It is with sadness the family of Ernie Thoms announce his passing on Saturday, May 17, 2014, in Prince Albert, SK, at the age of 70. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Olga, of 47 years; daughters, Jackie (Steve) Bicknell & Debbie Thoms; grandsons, Logan and Ryan Bicknell. He is survived by his sisters Anne Zahara of Winnipeg & Helen Palchinski of Saskatoon; brothers Roman (Rita) Thoms of Humboldt & Frank (Jean) Thoms of Saskatoon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ernie was predeceased by his parents, Nick and Mary; brothers John and Peter & nephews Derek, Gerard and Brian. Ernie was born and raised in the Bruno district. He married Olga Popowich July 1, 1967, and they had two daughters, Jackie and Debbie. For 37 years, Ernie was employed by the Co-op and had been retired for 17 years. Ernie was an active member of St. George’s Knights of Columbus and St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Parish.
Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014. Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2014. Both services will be held at St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 770 – 14th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with celebrants Reverend Father Ivan Nahachewsky and Deacon Harrold Salahub. Interment will be held at South Hill Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
