William (Bill) Richard Ellis
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of William (Bill) Richard Ellis on June 18, 2014, while at home surrounded by family. Bill was born to Richard and Alison (Dunlop) Ellis in Kinistino on July 21, 1935. In his formative years Bill attended school in the Shannonville district and helped his dad run the dairy and grain farm. In 1958, Bill married Patricia Knock and they took over the family farm. For the next four decades Bill and Pat lived on the home quarter and raised their three daughters. Many years were spent in the fields, checking crops and eating meals off the tailgate. While away from the field he would spend time with friends playing crib and had aptly earned the nickname “Famous” around town and the surrounding community. In the early 1990's Bill started working out of province for North American Rock and Dirt and Broda Construction, and in 1995 Bill made the difficult decision to sell the family farm and moved to Saskatoon with Pat. Once fully retired, Bill could regularly be found at Market Mall visiting with his many friends on coffee row. Bill will always be remembered for his quick wit, mischievous smile and dry sense of humour. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Knock); his three daughters and their families, Barbara Hogeweide (Barry) and their children Alison Hoemsen (Dylan), Lauren Hogeweide (Steve) and Elizabeth Hogeweide (Colton); Sandra Bonk (Terry) and their children Kelsey, Kyle and Tyler; Penny Hope (Jason) and their family Jordyn and Jaxsen. He also leaves behind his brother, Archie Ellis (Helen); sister-in-laws, Joy Arn (Ken), Barbara Sentis (Randy), and brother-in-law, Bob Knock (Marg), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Alison as well as his infant son, Leslie William. The family would like to thank Dr. Gericke and the team at Home Care. We would especially like to thank Donna at Palliative Care for her care and compassion during his last days. At Bill's request there will be a private internment for immediate family.
