November 29, 1947- June 26, 2014
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Shirley Sommerfelt (nee Sumlic) of Weirdale, SK. Shirley was a beloved and devoted wife and mother to her first loves – her husband of 46 years Vern Sommerfelt; her daughter Shannon (Jeff) Hoiness; her daughter Shawna (Warren) Florness. Equally cherished and loved by Shirley are her four wonderful grandchildren – Dalyn and Cassidy Hoiness and Jake and Kohl Florness. Shirley was the baby sister to her two brothers Garry (Joan) Sumlic and Ken Sumlic. She was also a sister-in-law and auntie to many nieces and nephews that she adored so much. There was also a special place in Shirley's heart for her auntie Betty Lewicki. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Rose Sumlic; her father-in-law and mother-in-law Otto and Rosella Sommerfelt as well as numerous other aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law and cousins. Beyond her love for her family, Shirley was a lover of gardening and camping, she was a crossword puzzle queen, cinnamon bun maker extraordinaire, quick to smile, smart, witty and gave the best soft squishy hugs in the world. She was a loving and loyal friend to many. There will forever be a hole in all of our hearts and there are no words to express how much you will be missed. We love you unconditionally and wish you peace. Please join us in a Celebration of Shirley's Life on Wednesday, July 2 at 2:00 pm at River Park Memorial Chapel. Reverend Tony Thompson will officiate. Interment will take place in the Garden of Sermon on the Mount, Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. It is the family’s request that those wishing to place memorials may do so to the Canadian Mental Health Association. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Donald M. Moriarty, Funeral Director
