MR. WILLIAM “BILL” FERCHUK
1922 – 2014
Bill passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Monday, July 7, 2014 with his family by his side. Bill was born in Manitoba on November 13, 1922. Bill’s family moved to a farm in Strong Pine, SK when he was a small child. Bill served with the Canadian Army during WW II. Upon returning home from the war, Bill stayed with relatives in White Star, SK. where he met the love of his life Veronica McArdle. They were married on June 29, 1948 and resided in White Star. Bill worked for Northern Wood Preservers for 35 years. After retirement he became Veronica’s right hand man, always ready to help with the next project. Bill loved old-time music and played both the violin and the accordion. He played at many dances around the community, accompanied by his cousin Jenny on the guitar. Bill will be remembered for his sense of humor and kindness. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s accomplishments, never missing any of their school plays or sporting events. Bill is survived by his loving family: his daughter Beverly (Doug) Morash; his grandchildren Trevor (Sharla James) Morash, Tyson (Shari Palmer) Morash, Trina (Bryan) Shewchuk, Tracey (Matthew) Beaven; his great-grandchildren Shyanna and Nikala Morash, Cody and Jessica Morash, Cole, Braden and Mya Shewchuk, Tayt and Baya Beaven; his sisters Kay Truba, Verna (Gus) Radis; his brothers John (Vera Dallman) Ferchuk, Joe (Margaret) Ferchuk; his brother-in-law Ken Pyche as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by: his wife Veronica; his parents Alex and Mary Ferchuk; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Nick and Roberta Ferchuk, Lee and Wes Arnold, Sonja and Nick Skakivitch, George Truba, Lawrence Schell; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Joe and Emily McArdle; his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Pat Pyche, Ramona and Ed Pyche. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 16 at River Park Memorial Chapel. Mrs. Margaret Ferchuk will officiate. Donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Interment will take place at the White Star Cemetery.
