It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Martin John Allan Merkowsky beloved son of Dorothy Merkowsky. Martin was born on Mother's Day May 08, 1966 and lived in Prince Albert his whole life. Although Martin had many challenges in life, living life to the fullest was not one of them. He always looked at the bright side of life and found joy in the simplest of things. Whether it was helping around the house, going for ice-cream or just going for a ride, he found joy in just being with you. He gave his love unconditionally and you knew you were officially “in” with Marty when he would offer to take you to Hawaii. He attended school in Prince Albert and was employed at the Kinsmen Workshop for 27 years. He led a full life with family functions, work, travelling and camping throughout North America.
Martin is survived by his mother Dorothy (Alvin Kruger), his siblings Inez Lehne, Elayne Thomas (Ken), Maureen Jackson (Jack), Debbie Basiuk (Dean), Marilyn Cook (Fred Martyniuk), John (Bea) & Rick Merkowsky and their families. His extended family “Mom & Dad” Lorne & Maryanne Schmidt, Ashlee, Brennan & Jakob along with his Kinsmen Workshop family. He was predeceased by his Dad John, and Sister Carol. A special thank you to Dr. Surkan and the exceptional nursing staff at the Victoria Hospital. As a tribute to Marty feel free to wear red, his favorite colour. A celebration of Marty’s life will be held at 11:00AM, Wednesday July 16th at MacKenzie Chapel, Prince Albert, SK. In lieu of tributes donations may be made to the Kinsmen Workshop, 300 15th Ave E, Prince Albert S6V 2N7. Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium.
