Born on: December 4, 1921
Passed away on: August 8, 2014
Jackie was born in Monkseaton, Great Britain, immigrating to Toronto at age five. She attended Havergal College and Trafalgar School for Girls, and received a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Library Science from McGill University. Her career included work as a Librarian at McGill University’s Redpath Library, member and Chair of John M. Cuelenaere Public Library Board, and longtime member of St. Alban’s Cathedral ACW. Jackie was a cancer survivor, an unselfish and tenacious mother and caregiver, a loyal Roughriders and curling fan, skilled at handcrafts and baking, and an insightful conversationalist. Throughout her life, she had many pets all of which she adored and spoiled fiercely. Jackie never left home without her hair done and lipstick in place. If you dared asked her opinion, you could always count on an honest and forthright response. Jackie married Owen Bruce Lobley on August 14, 1943, and moved to Prince Albert in 1955. She was predeceased by Bruce and their son, Robert Owen Lobley. Jackie is survived by her children Ted Lobley (Ingrid), Heidi Juorio (Alex), and grandchildren Geoff Lobley (Jackie) and Kathy Moore (Ed); sister-in-law Prudence Spaulding and family. Mum often said, “Let’s sit down, have a drink, and solve the world’s problems”. Many thanks to the staff of Good Shepherd Villas for providing a wonderful home and excellent care for Mum. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Dewey McClintock officiating. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the March of Dimes, 10 Overlea Blvd, Toronto, ON M4H 1A4. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, Drew Gray, Funeral Director (306-922-4729).
