MRS. HELEN ELIZABETH MESENCHUK
June 3, 1926 – October 27, 2014
Helen was born in St. Brieux and went to school at Rona Lake, and later after moving to Prince Albert she attended the Convent. She met Bill Mesenchuk in 1943, and after the war they were married on June 5, 1945. They had a wonderful life together. They had two boys: Garry (Collette) and his children Kevin, Kristen, Drew, and Tylor; and Wayne (Leah) and their children Matthew and Mitchell. Helen loved her two boys and both she and Dad would do anything for them. She dearly loved her grandchildren. Over the years Helen worked in a jewellery store, a bakery and lastly in housekeeping at the Victoria Hospital. In 2010, Helen took ill and had to go on dialysis three days a week. Up until her passing she continued with dialysis and looked forward to going to see her angels, the nurses of the dialysis unit. Each and every one of them treated Mom with care and compassion. She always told Wayne, “those nurses are unbelievable, I just love them”. The family wishes to extend a huge thank you to the dialysis staff at the Victoria Hospital. Dr. Oleksinski was another one of Mom’s angels; he cared for both Mom and Dad, and the family cannot express in words how much they appreciated the care and comforting he gave to both of them. In April 2013, Mom had to leave her home and move into the Herb Bassett Home. In August of 2011, Helen was pre-deceased by her husband Bill. She dearly missed him but cherished the 66 years they were blessed with together. Helen leaves behind her loving family; a special friend Jackie Hedman, and a kind and watchful neighbor, Maureen Hannah, both of whom we are truly grateful for; as well, Olga Balon, a special niece from Saskatoon who called regularly. She will also be missed by all her friends, too many to mention, and numerous other nieces and nephews. We want to give a special thank you to Pastor Dennis Serfas for his support and words of comfort Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, November 3, from St. Mark Catholic Church. Interment will take place at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated for St. Mark Catholic Parish Community. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of River Park Memorial Chapel, Donald M. Moriarty, Funeral Director.
