SISTER MARGUERITE BRASSARD 1923 – 2014
Sister Marguerite Brassard (Soeur Marie Victoire) passed away peacefully, with Sisters at her side, on Thursday, November 20 at the age of 91 years. In September 1943 Sister Marguerite entered the Congregration of Les Filles de la Providence in Prud’homme. She was a very active person, and her career as a teacher brought her to Prud’homme, St Front, St Brieux, Vonda, Saskatoon and Longueuil Montréal. Marguerite also shared her gifts in the formation Program of the Congregarion and was after she retired from teaching an inspiration in Parish work in the Dioceses of Prince Albert and Saskatoon. She loved to travel and did manage a few trips to France, England, Rome and Burundi Africa. After many years of dedication, in 2001, Sister Marguerite with a few other Daughters of Providence retired at the Sisters of Sion Convent in Saskatoon. In 2005 she moved to St. Volodymyr Assisted Living. Her dream was finally realized when she was accepted at the Infirmary at the Sisters of Presentation of Mary in Prince Albert where she lived with some of her Sisters, Les Filles de la Providence. Marguerite appreciated everything we did for her and she did not hesitate to show it in different ways. She was always very close to her family. Being the only one left of her generation, Marguerite was very present to her nieces and nephews who she loved very much. Sister Marguerite will be missed by all the people who loved and cared for her. Les Filles de la Providence and Marguerite’s family wish to express their sincere thanks for the great and loving care Sister Marguerite received from the Staff and Sisters at the infirmary. Prayers will be held in Prince Albert from the Chapel of the Sisters of the Presentation at 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 23, 2014. Funeral Celebration will be celebrated by Bishop Albert Thevenot in St. Louis Roman Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 24.
