Walter Tomashewski
January 30, 1934 – November 24, 2014
On Monday, November 24, 2014, Walter quietly passed away with his family by his side at the age of 80 years. Walter enjoyed living his life on the acreage just north of Prince Albert, where he raised his family. He enjoyed years and years of camping, fishing, and shooting the breeze around the campfires. Walter was employed at North Park Center for the Government of Saskatchewan for 28 years. He loved traveling around the world and especially loved going south for the winters with the fifth wheel. There he enjoyed the company of other snowbirds while partaking in “happy hour” and loved the lack of snow. Together, with his wife Jennie, Walter moved to Lloydminster and experienced life in the Border City.
He enjoyed walking and going for coffee with their many friends. Walter knew all the current news happenings from the front to back of the daily newspaper. He took pride in driving the shiniest polished vehicle wherever he went. Walter always had a witty comment or a story to tell you that would make your heart happy. Walter loved watching all his grandchildren participate in their activities. He watched Nicole play basketball, Corwyn play soccer, and Jessica become a talented dancer. Walter became his grandson, Joel’s, number one hockey fan and is well known and well loved at all rinks, especially by the refs! Walter’s favorite times were those where we came together as a family and celebrated special events like birthdays and anniversaries. He cherished the Christmas and Easter traditions our family holds close to our hearts. Walter will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Walter will be sadly missed by his wife Jennie (nee Zelensky) of 56 years; his children Janet (Randy) Gagnon and Jaysen (Tannis) Tomashewski; his grandchildren Nicole Gagnon, Corwyn Tomashewski, Joel Gagnon, and Jessica Tomashewski; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents Alexander and Veronica Tomashewski. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 260 – 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with The Very Reverend Father Maurice Fiolleau, Vicar General officiating. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to a Charity of Donor’s Choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729).
