Olga Wasyliw
1929 – 2014
Olga was born to John and Julia Zayat in 1929 at Weekes. SK. She is survived by her daughters JoAnne Ollivier and Janet Briscoe; grandchildren Amanda (Mike Gilbert) and Michael Briscoe and sisters Mary, Alice, Joyce and Kathy. She was predeceased by her husband Mike; brothers Mike and Steve and sisters Emily and Ann. Mom grew up in the farming community of Weekes and married Dad in 1948. They farmed at Weekes and then Hudson Bay until Dad’s passing. Following Dad’s passing, she moved to Prince Albert and joined the Senior’s Club, St. George Ukrainian Catholic Church and was actively dancing and playing cards until recently. Mom had a wide circle of friends and enjoyed socializing every day. She enjoyed family gatherings, both big and small as well as travelling. Her most memorable trip was to Poland and meeting family members for the first time. Her garden was her masterpiece; she had an exceptional green thumb and a willingness to share information or “dig in” to help others with anything garden or plant related. Her generous and giving nature, good cooking and love of entertaining will be in the memories of many. The family would like to thank the friends and neighbors for their support and the nurses and staff on level 6 of the Victoria Hospital for their assistance and care of Mom.
