STEELE, RICHARD LESLIE ALLAN
1955 – 2014
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our devoted father, papa, brother, uncle and friend Richard Leslie Allan Steele, late of Prince Albert, SK. At the age of 58 years. Richard’s battle with his lungs ended peacefully with his family by his side in the early morning of Thursday, November 27, 2014. Rick will be forever missed, but never forgotten, by his son Tyler (RevaLee Henderson); his stepchildren Trinity Perrin (Patricia); Christa Nobel (Justin), Michael Whitford, Joey Whitford (Jessie Merasty), Michelle Whitford; his grandchildren Colton, Ashlyn, Tristan, Trey, Paisley; his brother Gordon (June) Steele; his sister Maureen Fowler; many close nieces and nephews; his companion “Rusty Boy”; as well as many special close family and friends, especially Lorne Henderson who helped him out a lot in his time of need throughout his illness. He was predeceased by the love of his life Shelley Whitford-Steele; his parents Gordon and Winnifred Steele; his brother Bradley Steele and his sister Lynda Steele. Although Rick was a stubborn man, he was also a loving, strong-willed, humourous guy, as some would say, who was always there when you needed him to be, or even just to have a good argument with, and – heaven forbid – he was always right. For many of us, he was the favourite uncle who taught us his many skills in fishing, hunting, and riding bikes – he especially had a passion for Harleys. He was the heart of our annual family reunions up at the lake, and would always make sure we had enough fish to end the night with a good “fish fry”. Rick was an active member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Union Local 1985(SK) and Local 1325(AB) for 27 years where he enjoyed working as a scaffolder/foreman, and gained some loyal friends from his time spent in the union. In his last days, he came to terms with his illness and was ready to accept the fact that he was on his way out after putting up a good fight for twelve long years. The family would like to thank the nursing staff on Level 5 at the Victoria Hospital for all the good care and kindness shown to Rick and his family, as well as putting up with his furry friend Rusty. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 5 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 260 25 Street East, Prince Albert, SK. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make donations in Rick’s memory may do so to the SPCA, PO Box 1832, Prince Albert, SK S6V 6J9. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Donald M. Moriarty, Funeral Director.
