Mrs. Reta Violet Mae Norfield (nee Gill), age 99, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2014 after a short stay in hospital. Reta was married to John Norfield for 62 years, until his passing in November 1996. They had a great life together and lived in many parts of Canada due to John’s career with Corrections Canada. They will be most remembered for the years they lived at Christopher Lake. In their retirement years, they travelled the world and made many friends along the way. They spent numerous hours with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Reta will be fondly remembered by all the people she fed and cared for over the years, many affectionately called her “Auntie Reta”. Reta is survived by her three grandchildren: Dr. Larry Norfield, Ron (Janice) Norfield, and Charlene (Martin) Lalonde; and her five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband John Norfield; her sons Vern Norfield and Dale Norfield; her daughter-in-law Denise Norfield (Bernard). A private memorial service for the family will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the nursing staff in the ICU and on Level 5 of the Victoria Hospital for the superior care they offered to Grandma. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Donald M. Moriarty, Funeral Director.
