Betty Jean Turnbull
December 5, 1927 – January 24, 2015
TURNBULL – Betty Jean (nee Anderson), passed away on January 24, 2015 at the age of 87. Jean was born in Canwood on December 5, 1927, later moving to Prince Albert where she took her schooling. At the age of 20, she was crowned Miss Prince Albert and was the first representative from this city to attend the Miss Canada Pageant. She married Ken Turnbull in 1950 and they shared 53 wonderful years together. Her second home in the summer was Waskesiu where she shared her love of the lake with her children and grandchildren. Shortly after Ken passed away, she was reunited with her high school sweetheart, Clarence Brown, with whom she enjoyed 3 wonderful years. Jean was predeceased by her husband Ken Turnbull; her partner Clarence Brown; her father and mother Lloyd and Letta Anderson; and her brother Al Anderson. She is survived by her sons Bob Turnbull and Doug (Karen) Turnbull; her daughter Wendi (Joel) Hudon; her 5 grandchildren Dani (Mike), Bree, Kailey (John), Vaughn (Dayna) and Laura; her 4 great-grandchildren Taya, Linkin, Rilynn and Allory; her sisters Marion Jackson and Lynne Slipetz; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Wesley United Church, 65 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Tony Thompson officiating. Private family interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to Canadian Cancer Society, 54 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9.
