Gerald William Fraser

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald William “Gerry” Fraser on January 19, 2015 at the age of 83 years. Gerry was born on December 15, 1931 at Neepawa, Manitoba spending his youth at Kelwood, Manitoba. At the young age of 18, he joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police enjoying a 32 year career. Upon graduation he found himself in Blaine Lake, SK. Future postings took him to Uranium City, Melfort, Prince Albert, Rose Valley, Watrous, Saskatoon, North Battleford, Kindersley, once again in Melfort and a final move to Swift Current. He retired in 1982. Upon retirement, he found himself back in Melfort with his wife Elvera, this time to follow her passion of jewellry. They began a business, Frasers Jewellery, for the next 13 years. Family times were always important. Many trips home to Manitoba and Riding Mountain National Park. Gerry loved to spend time outdoors, camping and fishing. He was always ready to help family during the fall whether throwing bales or driving truckloads of grain at harvest time. He was an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Lions Club and a former member of the Rotary Club. Two special grandsons and a great grandson became his focus. Always there to help, teach and have fun. Gerry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elvera, daughter Janice (Charlie), son Brent (Kathy), grandsons Andrew and Graham, and great grandson Noah.
