November 12, 1923 – February 1, 2015
Konrad Rogvaldur Bardal passed away peacefully on February 1st at the age of 91 years, at Victoria Hospital. Konrad was born in Wynyard, Sask. on November 12, 1923, the eldest of five children. After completing his schooling in Wynyard and a year at the U of S, he worked at the Co-op in Wynyard for a number of years, then Ducks Unlimited. He married Evelyn Crowley from Tisdale and began an 18 year career with the Dept. of Highways, which led his family to many different towns around the province of Saskatchewan, before finally settling in Prince Albert in 1961. Konrad enjoyed curling with the P.A. Golf and Curling Club, even into his 80’s. He also played in the City Band for a number of years. He liked to read, listen to CBC radio, watch TV, discuss politics, and play trivial pursuit, where his prodigious memory would prove to overwhelm most challengers! Konrad leaves to mourn: his wife of 61 years, Evelyn; his children, Lorraine (Al) Huska, Brad (Jackie) Bardal and Stan (Jen) Bardal; his grand-children, Greg Bardal (Sara), Jenny Bardal (Bill), Melissa Huska (Dustin), Jason Huska (Tabatha), Chris Huska (Nicole) and Kalman Bardal; plus seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Thorhallur and Sigridur; his sisters Olga and Una; brothers Kalman and Thor; parents-in-law Stan and Hazel Crowley; brothers-in-law Ernie Magnus and Art Fraser; sister-in-law Stephie Bardal and niece Joan Fraser. Konrad was a kind and gentle man who will be deeply missed by his family. We are thankful that he was able to participate in one last family Christmas celebration before succumbing to complications from flu and pneumonia. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Mont St. Joseph Foundation, where Konrad resided for the past 5 years or to a charity of donor’s choice. The family would like to thank Mont St. Joseph staff for their years of caring, and the attention of the Victoria Hospital staff during his final days. Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2015 at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 1796 – 15th Avenue East, Prince Albert, SK with Deacon Eldon Danielson officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729).
