Eleanor Elizabeth Lawrence (Betty) was born November 19, 1923 at Ethelton, Saskatchewan to Charles and Minnie Campbell. She grew up on her parents farm southwest of Ethelton. Betty went to school at Ethelton High School and then Normal School in Saskatoon studying to become a teacher. Her teaching career included Creek Hill, Kearns , Birch Hills and Yellow Creek. Betty married Marshall Lawrence of Meskanaw in October of 1948. They lived on the farm 2.5 miles south of Meskanaw where they farmed for the next 54 years. They raised a family of four boys. Mom was very active in the United Church in Meskanaw, Ethelton and then Melfort. She taught Sunday School and played the organ for many years at Ethelton. She had many positions with the UCW, locally and provincially. She loved music and enjoyed singing in the choir and also teaching piano. She was an active Meskanaw Community member and a long time Kinistino Legion member. Mom had a green thumb , taking great pride in her gardens. We all enjoyed her beautiful flowers. She was very talented at quilting and has made many wonderful quilts for family and others. Mom and Dad enjoyed travelling with their motorhome throughout Canada and Alaska. They had many trips with their square dancing group, the Melfort Twirlers. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children , grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marshall passed away February 2010. Betty stayed on the farm until the fall of 2010, moving to Diefenbaker Place in Melfort. She also lived at Nirvana before moving to Parkland Place in February 2012, where she received excellent care. Betty passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on February 11, 2015. Betty will be lovingly remembered and missed by all that knew her and is survived by her 4 sons and their families: Gordon (Joyce) of Christopher Lake,SK and his children Jamie (Jen) their sons Aiden and Liam of Nelson, BC, D’arci (Mike) Larson his children Ashton and Cora of Medicine Hat, AB Barry (Heather) of Meskanaw, SK and sons Alan (Laura) her children Sydney, Logan and their son Hudson of Meskanaw,SK, James (Erin) and daughters Emma and Harper of Warman, SK, Michael (Megan) of Ethelton, SK Herbert (Pat) and their sons Russell and Randy of Saskatoon, SK Robert (Cathy) of Beaverlodge,AB and his daughter Christina (Lee) of Dawson Creek, BC Also mourning the loss of their sister are Don (Velma) Campbell, Grace Wilton and Mary (Cal) Newman. Betty was predeceased by her husband Marshall Lawrence, her grandson Troy Lawrence, parents Charles and Minnie Campbell, and her brothers Stan Campbell and Keith Campbell. Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma we thank you for the time you gave us, we will remember your kindness and will love you always.
