It is with sadness we announce the sudden passing of John Patrick Jansen on April 12, 2015. He was born March 18, 1956 in Melfort and moved to Prince Albert at a young age. He retired from Saskatchewan Penitentiary and was recently employed at Willow Cree First Nation Healing Lodge at Duck Lake. John was also a member of the Commissionaires in Prince Albert. He leaves to mourn: his sister Joanne (Terry) Aschenbrenner; nieces Catherine (Donny Jackow) and Courtney (Rod O’Brien); his brothers Carl (Lenneke Verweij) Jansen and Ray (Danielle) Jansen. He will also be missed by several close friends and associates. He was predeceased by his father Zacharias “Jack” Jansen; his mother Maria Jansen; and a brother, Adrian, in infancy. John would best be described as a unique and enigmatic person. He was a voracious reader, lover of music, an avid Detroit Red Wings fan, and a captivating storyteller. John was a big man with a big generous heart. He strongly identified with those who struggled with life’s tough situations. He excelled at being an enthusiastic uncle to his two beloved nieces – stopping at nothing to keep them squealing with laughter at his antics. He was often heard proudly saying “Uncling is a tough job”. He has left us with a life time supply of “Uncle John” stories. We will miss him. A private celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of RIVER PARK MEMORIAL CHAPEL, Prince Albert 306 764-2727, Donald M.
