It is with sadness our family announces that Gladys Marguerite Johnston, nee Tait, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 29th, 2015 in Prince Albert, SK at the age of 91 years. Gladys was born on March 27th, 1924 in Saskatoon, SK. She married Homer Johnston on July 7, 1945. Gladys is survived by her children: Carol (Ron) Elies, Ferne (David) Chalmers, and Randy (Donna) Johnston; and her grandchildren: Craig (Erin) Elies, Susan (Ron) Guss, Matthew Chalmers, Nicholas Johnston and Will Johnston. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Aidan and Ethan Elies and Adam and Joshua Guss; her sister Iolene Halcro, her sisters-in-law: Irene Tait, Dorothy Tait, and Shirley Tait; and her brother-in-law Ron Davies, as well as numerous nieces and nephews on both sides. Gladys was predeceased by her parents Mary and Arthur Tait, her loving husband Homer, her brothers: William, Arnold, Colin, Leslie and Alvin; her sisters: Doris Cook and Reta Davies; her sisters-in-law: Melva Tait and Lil Tait; and her brothers-in-law Richard Cook and Lloyd Halcro as well as all of Homer’s siblings and their spouses. Gladys was a wonderful mom and spouse who loved her family and loved life. Time in her garden, dinners with family and friends, or sitting up late with her daughters chatting, were her special moments. She had an easy laugh and a beautiful smile that warmed our hearts, and those are the memories we will always cherish. She was a patient and caring listener who offered advice only when asked and without judgement. We will miss her gentle soul very much. A special mention to mom’s “second” family ; uncle Alvin’s children Sherry, Jane (Wayne), Marie and Duke (Janice). She loved you all like her own. The family would like to thank the staffs of Mak Lodge and Pineview Terrace for the excellent care provided to our mom. Also a special thank you to Lavina Basaraba for her kind and caring support for mom. A Funeral Service will be held at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity. Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium. Brian and Bev Stobbs, Funeral Directors. 306.763.8488 www.MacKenzieChapel.ca
