Jane (Jennie) Goetzie passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Newmarket Nursing Home, Tisdale, at the age of 95. She was born on October 15, 1919 to Horace and Florence Devouge. Jennie grew up in Belle Anse, Gaspe Peninsula, Quebec and later moved to Montreal where she worked at various jobs. During the war, she met Herbert Goetzie and they married on August 18, 1945. They then moved to Snowden, Saskatchewan where Herbert had been living before the war. They started farming and continued to do so until they retired to Choiceland in 1976. After retiring they went on many trips in Canada and the United States including Hawaii and also to Germany to visit Herbert’s relatives.
After Herbert died in 2003, Jennie sold her house and moved into Placid Place in Choiceland and then about three years ago she moved to North Haven Care Home in Smeaton, which she enjoyed. Her last days were spent in Nipawin Hospital and then we transferred her to Newmarket Nursing Home in Tisdale where she spent her last five days.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Florence (Gerald) Williams, Linda (Jim) Robertson Betty Goetzie, and Carol (Jim) Foss; grandchildren, Connie, Tracy, James, Bryan, Joel, Tammy, Rick, Crystal, Rebecca and Steven; 21 great grandchildren and one on the way.
