The world has recently lost another good man. Stanley George Wesley Daniels died peacefully on January 20, 2014 at the age of 89 years at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert with family by his side. Stan was always the picture of vigorous, good health but he contracted the flu and pneumonia right after Christmas which, even the tough, old soldier couldn’t beat. Stan was born to Eva and Wilfred Daniels in 1925 in Leroy, Saskatchewan. After receiving his education in Leroy, he enlisted in the army and was forever a proud and loyal Canadian who believed in standing up for his country. Upon his return to Prince Albert he began a long career at the Penitentiary where he took pride in his meticulous role as the tailor. He married Lucille Luyben in 1945 in Prince Albert, SK. They had 5 children and Stan worked hard to support them and took extra work as a painter and shingler to provide for his family. He was a member of the Legion and the Masons and served in the color party at many a funeral. He attended regular meetings of these clubs and enjoyed the camaraderie of many old friends. He was an avid storyteller and was often found sharing numerous anecdotes and humorous incidents from his life that he enjoyed looking back on fondly. Baseball was Stan’s favourite sport and he loved to watch sports on TV. He would often phone his sons to comment on team plays and scores and critique the games. He was very active and enjoyed visiting and keeping in touch with family and friends, walking, cooking, his car and living an independent life. Stan was predeceased by his daughter Margie (Rick) Humm in 1995, and his son Wilfred in 2010. He was the last member of his own family, having been predeceased by his parents Eva and Wilfred and brothers Bill, Jack and Les. Left to mourn Stan are his children: Doug (Jan) Daniels of Saskatoon, SK, Marilyn (Ashley) Quayle of Birch Hills, SK and Bob (Brenda) Daniels of Emma Lake, SK. He also left behind special nieces: Fern, Jo-Ann, Judy and Brenda all of Edmonton, AB and nephews: Kenny (Jenny) Daniels of Prince Albert, SK, Gerald of La Ronge, SK, and Linda (Roy) McDougall of Prince Albert, SK. He had 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren of whom he was extremely proud. The family would like to thank the Emergency room staff and the ICU staff who took such great care of Stan. Rest in peace dad! You will be missed and forever loved. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015 – 11:00 am, MacKenzie Chapel, 130 9th St. East, Prince Albert, SK.
