Andrew (Andy) Schekk slipped away the evening of Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the Herb Bassett Home in his 85thyear. He leaves behind his wife Sarah (nee: Kiraly) of 62 years; their daughter, Karen (Nick) Remenda and their daughter, Lori (Pascal Van Pul) all of Saskatoon. He is also survived by his brothers Leslie (Mary) and Zoltan (Kathy); his sisters Doreen, Margaret, and Ethel; sister-in-law Margaret; brothers-in-law Joseph and Dave; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph (1965) and Elizabeth (nee: Frisch) (1964) Schekk; his in-laws James (1968) and Mary (nee: Berenyi) (1981) Kiraly; his brother Joseph (2010); his sisters Irene (1989), and Emma (1995); his brothers-in-law Jim (1963), Steve (1979), Frank (1999), Louis (2004) and Mike (2012) and his sisters-in-law Ida (1986) and Mary (2014). Andrew was born in Viscount SK on May 21, 1929. The family moved to the Mildred area when he was five years old. He married Sarah in the fall of 1952. He spent most of his life in the Prince Albert/Spruce Home area. Working for Kirsch Construction, Eagle Transport, and as owner/operator of Andy’s Mobile Home Movers enabled him to travel from BC to Quebec and NWT. He also worked for the R.M. of Buckland. He enjoyed travelling to numerous auction sales over the years that led to many hours of tinkering in his garage. While attending the sales both Dad and Mom would meet up with many old and new friends they had met over the years. Following his stroke in 2003, Andrew resided at the Herb Bassett Home. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Golden Hill for the wonderful care and support for the past 12 years and the interesting variety of outings and socials offered by the Rec. Dept. over the years. A special thank you to Dr. J.G. Rye and other care staff. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Nora Vedress officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
