Anne Mantyka

It is with great sadness that we take time to honor the life of Anne Eve Mantyka. Anne, first born of Ignace and Teresa Schneberger of Renauld, SK was born on her grandmother’s farm near Wakaw, SK. She was followed by Eugene and Ernie. Eugene passed away at a young age. Three more boys followed, Elmer (Chuck), Arnold (Red) and Dennis. Finally another girl, Marlene (deceased 2008), was born after Anne’s first daughter was born. Anne and Steve were married on August 11, 1947. Their 60th anniversary celebration was held at Nordale Hall. Anne loved to dance as did her brothers and sister. She was a hard working woman who put the needs of others ahead of herself. Anne was an awesome mother and wife. She was an accomplished cook, artist, seamstress and knitter. She worked at St. Anne’s home and Canadian Linen Supply in Saskatoon. After retiring she and Steve moved to Prince Albert. Many fishing trips were taken in the north. Davin Lake was a favorite destination. Several trips were made to the Yukon, Northwest Territories and BC coast. One trip eluded them. That was to the east of Canada to see the fall colors. Anne is survived by her daughter Linda (Ernie) and grandchildren Michelle & Stephen; her son Leonard (Dianna) and grandchildren Heather and Janice; son-in-law Harry and grandchildren Katherine Robert, Jonathan and Lana; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; her brothers Ernie (Lorraine, deceased), Elmer (Irene), Arnold (Sandra) and Dennis. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Stephen; her daughter Donna; her sister Marlene; her parents and all of her in-laws (Ann Shulko, Mary Anderson, Sophie Sheils, Olga Berman, Nick Mantyka, Ernie Mantyka, Stanley Mantyka and Sally Brady). Thanks to the staff of Pineview, especially Rose, Norman, Grace and Kim. Many other staff helped made her life good. Good friends, Doris and Glendis, remain to bear the torch. A Celebration of Anne’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Pineview Terrace Lodge, Prince Albert, SK. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of other tributes, donations made to Pineview Residence Council Fund would be gratefully accepted. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729).
