A Celebration of Lorraine’s Life will be held on Saturday, August 8th, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Civic Center, Spiritwood, SK.
Lorraine was born on March 11, 1946 to William and Alma (nee Parkunow) Sachko in Biggar, SK. She attended Lizard Lake School for her elementary education and then went into Cando, SK for the rest of her high school years. Lorraine then attended Robertson Secretarial School in Saskatoon, which quickly led to two teaching assignments in Lloydminster and Harris, SK. Following this, Lorraine started work at Gulf Oil in Saskatoon. While there, Lorraine met Dale Donohue, and they were married on October 23, 1970. Soon afterward, Dale transferred to Gulf Oil in Edmonton where their two children, Dawn and Curtis, were born. Farming was their calling they realized, and in 1973 they moved to a small farm outside of Hay Lakes, AB. Lorraine enjoyed this farm life of raising two small children, while putting in a huge garden, milking cows, feeding livestock, creating a beautiful yard, and finding time, of course, to visit with neighbours. In 1979 the opportunity to move back to SK arose, and the family relocated and then farmed southwest of Mildred for the next 28 years.
Lorraine’s passion for cooking and baking led to her long-standing position at the lunch counter at the Spiritwood Stock Yards. In addition she and Dale ran Spiritwood Liquid Feeds, and she was involved in many community organizations, including the Northern Lakes School Board, the Lioness Club of Spiritwood, and the Spiritwood 4-H Club.
Lorraine was a loving wife, a proud mother, and a loyal friend.
